About Permanent Cosmetics
*What is permanent cosmetics? Also known as micropigmentation, or permanent makeup, is the process of implanting color pigment into the dermal layer of the skin with the use of a specially designed and approved instrument.
*What method or technique do you do? Microblading? I prefer to use a tattoo machine because it will give you longer lasting results as compared to microblading. Both methods can produce beautiful work it all depends on your technician. Hair strokes can be made using a machine and specific needles and will heal soft and natural looking. Microblading is a specific technique that if done properly could last 2-5 years before a color touchup is needed. Research on qualified technicians is recommended.
*Who is a good candidate for permanent cosmetic procedures? Anyone that desires a more defined daily look without the hassle of application each day. Anyone who has a topical makeup allergy that wants to wear makeup. Anyone with sparse, thin, light colored or no eyebrows. Each procedure is individualized to suit the client and their needs. Each individual will accept pigment differently based on many factors that are unique to their skin type and health profile.
*How long does the procedure take? Each procedure will take between two and three hours, the initial topical numbing process is about half an hour and then together we will design the look you desire, then onto the first pass with my machine. An included follow up appointment is scheduled 4-6 weeks afterward.
*I have sparse or very thin eyebrows, will this look natural? Yes. A hair stroke technique is used to simulate natural brow hairs or a soft fill-in effect can also be used, depending on your preference.
*How long will my permanent makeup last? This procedure is permanent, although most clients will experience some fading and choose to return for a color touch ups. This is typically done between two to five years.
*What colors should I choose? There is a right color for everyone. Your natural. skin color, hair color and eye color will be taken into consideration to create a natural and soft finished look.
*Will I have to take time off of work? That is under your discretion, however, most clients will return the same week. After the procedure you will have minimum swelling and redness. Ice may be used to reduce swelling and puffiness. There is really no down time.
*What is the aftercare? You must keep the are clean and apply a thin layer of ointment 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days (depending on the procedure). Avoid sun, chlorine, exercise or anything that will cause your face to heat up and turn red. Avoiding vitamin E or aloe vera products during the healing process.

*There is no upper age limit on permanent makeup. Women in their eighties can be good candidates for it if their skin is in good condition.
*Women who have a hard time getting a straight eye line or brow or who have eyesight problems are excellent candidates
*Women who are active in sports should consider permanent makeup as it won’t run off or sweat off during exercise.
*Busy career women love permanent makeup since they can save five to fifteen minutes each day by not having to apply as much makeup.
*Women who don’t want to worry about their makeup in general should seriously consider having permanent makeup applied. The freedom from the lifelong hassle of applying makeup is indescribable.
*Women who tend to easily hyper-pigment may NOT be good candidates for permanent makeup.
*Permanent lip color does NOT always work well on people with ethnic skin as the melanocytes (darker pigmentation) in the lips do not allow for the tattooed pigment to show up properly when healed under this darker skin tone.
*If a person has a tendency to cold sores/herpes, an antiviral prescription is needed prior to getting permanent lip color applied.
*A person who spends a lot of time in the sun or in tanning booths is NOT a good candidate for permanent makeup since the UVA rays will alter and change the pigment tones, sometimes even turning brown brows blue.
*A person who is undergoing a major life trauma should NOT get permanent makeup. It is not wise to alter one’s physical appearance, while undergoing major stress in life. Best to wait until the issues causing the trauma are resolved.
*A person on certain forms of prescription medication or with an existing medical condition may NOT be able to get permanent makeup. If considering it, consult with your doctor. Those who are good candidates for permanent makeup should receive a consultation with their technician to determine if they are compatible with the person doing the work. You want to have all of your questions answered and feel comfortable with them. This is a permanent change to your appearance and should carefully be considered.
When done properly and on the right candidate, permanent makeup is wonderful because it gives women freedom from constantly having to apply topical makeup. Most people are thrilled to find it reduces stress!
